Who can buy

TarleyNode is made for business use. To download, try or buy it you must be at least 18 and, if you act for an organisation, allowed to accept these terms for it.

What TarleyNode is

TarleyNode is network monitoring software that you install and run on your own server. We do not host it for you and we do not have access to your installation.

Free trial and free edition

Every new installation can use every feature with unlimited sensors, free, for 30 days. After that, without a paid licence, it continues as a free edition for up to 100 sensors. No payment details are needed for either.

Buying a licence

The price, currency, term, number of sensors and what is included are shown at checkout before you pay. Payment is taken through PayPal. Once payment is confirmed we email your activation code to the address you verified. A licence does not renew automatically. We never take another payment unless you choose to buy again.

What your licence allows

Your licence lets you install and use one TarleyNode installation, within the number of sensors it covers, for the term you paid for. If your licence includes high availability, it covers one cluster of up to 16 servers instead, within the number of servers you paid for. You may:

  • use TarleyNode to monitor networks and systems you own or are authorised to monitor
  • move the licence to a replacement server, within the moves the licence allows

What your licence does not allow

  • selling, renting, sharing or transferring the licence or activation code to someone else
  • running more installations or sensors than the licence covers
  • getting around or tampering with licence checks
  • reverse engineering the software, except where the law allows it

Updates

Updates are included while your licence term is running. Your administrator chooses when to install them.

When a licence ends

If you do not renew, monitoring, alerts and reports keep working. You will not be able to add sensors or install updates until the licence is renewed.

Your responsibilities

  • keeping your server, backups and TarleyNode accounts secure
  • keeping your activation code private
  • making sure you are allowed to monitor the devices and networks you add

Refunds and cancellation

You can cancel any purchase within 14 days for a full refund. The refund policy explains how. This is longer than the seven-day cooling-off period the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act gives you.

Support

Support is by email and through Send feedback in the console. The support page explains what to expect.

Our responsibility to you

We build TarleyNode with care and fix problems we are told about, but no software is free of faults and monitoring cannot prevent every outage. As far as the law allows, we are not responsible for indirect losses such as lost profit or data, and our total responsibility for any claim is limited to what you paid for your licence in the 12 months before the claim.

None of this limits rights you have under the Consumer Protection Act that cannot be excluded, or our responsibility for gross negligence or fraud.

Privacy

The privacy policy explains how we handle your personal information.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The version shown at checkout applies to that purchase.

Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of South Africa. If something goes wrong, please contact us first so we can try to put it right. Consumers can also approach the Consumer Goods and Services Ombud or the National Consumer Commission.
