A self-hosted Auvik alternative.
Looking for an Auvik alternative that keeps your data on site? Auvik is a cloud service: software on your network sends what it gathers to Auvik’s cloud on Amazon Web Services, and stops gathering new information if that link is lost. TarleyNode runs entirely on your own Linux server, including on networks with no internet access, while Auvik remains the quicker, fully managed choice for many MSPs.

Where Auvik is stronger
- Nothing to host: Auvik runs the platform, and says most users have full visibility in under one hour.
- Built for MSPs, with a top-level multi-client dashboard and per-device billing.
- Topology maps that update in real time from CDP, LLDP, forwarding and ARP tables and VLANs.
- Configuration backups every hour, logged automatically.
- Remote access tools, including one-click SSH or Telnet access to devices.
- Integrations with PSA and RMM tools such as Autotask, ConnectWise and HaloPSA.
- Hosting in several regions, including the EU.
Where TarleyNode differs
- Self-hosted: monitoring results, credentials and configuration backups stay on your own server.
- Installs and runs on networks with no internet access.
- Connected sites keep results on disk if their link is interrupted.
- Receives SNMP traps as well as syslog, with event rules that turn messages into incidents.
- Monitors Linux and Windows servers, databases, multi-step web transactions, Azure, AWS and Microsoft 365 service health.
- Published prices: free for up to 100 sensors after a 30-day trial, then from USD 600 a year for 500 sensors.
- Unlimited users on every licence.
Which team should pick which
Pick Auvik if you are an MSP or a lean IT team that wants a managed cloud service, fast set-up across many client networks and PSA integrations, and you are comfortable with monitoring data held in Auvik’s cloud.
Pick TarleyNode if policy, regulation or network design means monitoring data must stay on your own infrastructure, or some of your networks have no internet access.
Switching from Auvik
- Install TarleyNode on a separate server or virtual machine.
- Run a discovery scan of the networks Auvik monitors, using the same SNMP and Windows credentials.
- Apply device templates, then compare alerts and reports from both over a few weeks.
- Switch when you are satisfied, and keep Auvik running until you no longer need it.
Questions
Is there a self-hosted version of Auvik?
We found no self-hosted server edition on Auvik’s website. Auvik hosts its platform on Amazon Web Services in several regions. TarleyNode is installed on your own Linux server.
What happens if the internet link goes down?
Auvik says that when its on-site software loses its connection to the Auvik cloud, it can no longer gather new information. TarleyNode runs on your network, and connected sites keep results on disk until their link returns.
Does Auvik receive SNMP traps?
Auvik’s support site says it does not currently support SNMP traps. TarleyNode receives SNMP traps and syslog, and event rules turn messages into incidents.
How is Auvik priced?
Auvik prices by billable devices and gives prices on request. TarleyNode publishes its prices: free for up to 100 sensors after a 30-day trial, then from USD 600 a year for 500 sensors.
Does TarleyNode back up device configurations?
Yes. TarleyNode takes configuration backups over SSH with change history and keeps them on your own server. Auvik stores configuration backups in its cloud.

Ask for an invitation through Request a demo; every request is read by a person. An evaluation includes every feature with unlimited sensors for 30 days, and TarleyNode then stays free for up to 100 sensors. It does not change device configuration, so it can run next to Auvik while you compare.
