An OpManager alternative without the add-ons.
Looking for an OpManager alternative? ManageEngine OpManager is a capable on-premises monitor for Windows or Linux with built-in syslog, traps and layer 2 maps, but flow analysis, configuration backups and failover are paid add-ons, and remote sites need the Enterprise edition. TarleyNode includes flow analysis, configuration backups and remote sites in every licence, with high availability as its one option.

Where OpManager is stronger
- Installs on Windows or Linux.
- Apps for Android, iPhone and iPad.
- Layer 2 maps plus virtual topology maps, business views and 3D floor and rack views.
- The Enterprise edition scales to 50,000 devices with probes.
- Custom script monitors in PowerShell, Linux shell, Perl, Python and VBScript.
- Wide virtualisation coverage: Hyper-V, VMware, Citrix, Xen and Nutanix.
- A choice of perpetual or subscription licences for the Enterprise edition.
Where TarleyNode differs
- NetFlow, IPFIX and sFlow traffic summaries and configuration backups over SSH with change history are in every licence.
- Connected sites for remote locations are included on every tier, not only an enterprise edition.
- Windows health, services and performance counters over WinRM from a Linux server. ManageEngine says OpManager must be installed on a Windows machine to monitor a Windows environment over WMI.
- Public status pages and monthly service-level reports that cannot be changed afterwards.
- Single sign-on with OpenID Connect or Microsoft, and two-step sign-in, built in.
- Monitoring, alerting and reporting carry on if a licence lapses.
Which team should pick which
Pick OpManager if you want native phone apps, 3D floor and rack views, a perpetual licence option, or very large deployments with probes, and are happy to add modules as you need them.
Pick TarleyNode if you want flow analysis, configuration backups and remote sites without buying add-ons or moving to an enterprise edition, on a Linux server.
Switching from OpManager
- Install TarleyNode on a separate server or virtual machine.
- Run a discovery scan of the networks OpManager monitors, using the same SNMP and Windows credentials.
- Apply device templates, then compare alerts and reports from both over a few weeks.
- Switch when you are satisfied, and keep OpManager running until you no longer need it.
Questions
Does OpManager include NetFlow?
ManageEngine lists NetFlow and flow analysis among OpManager add-ons that need a separate licence, with two interfaces free in the Professional and Enterprise editions. TarleyNode includes NetFlow, IPFIX and sFlow in every licence.
Does OpManager have a free edition?
Yes. ManageEngine describes a free edition that monitors up to 3 network devices. TarleyNode is free for up to 100 sensors after a 30-day trial, then from USD 600 a year for 500 sensors.
Can TarleyNode monitor Windows servers from Linux?
Yes. TarleyNode runs on Linux and monitors Windows health, services and performance counters over WinRM.
Why is there no OpManager price on this page?
ManageEngine’s own pages showed different starting prices when we checked in October 2026, so we have left them out. Ask ManageEngine for a quote for your device count.
Can TarleyNode monitor remote sites?
Yes, on every tier. Connect a site adds a location with one command on Linux or Windows, and results are kept on disk if the link is interrupted.

Ask for an invitation through Request a demo; every request is read by a person. An evaluation includes every feature with unlimited sensors for 30 days, and TarleyNode then stays free for up to 100 sensors. It does not change device configuration, so it can run next to OpManager while you compare.
